A late 18th century Louis XV style French Provençal verrio, or wall display cabinet from Nîmes. Made of solid walnut with beautifully carved details including a three dimensional basket of roses framed by a laurel wreath and a pierced apron with an swirl of oak leaves surrounding a lyre. Two dovetailed drawers with brass knobs. Large chapeau de gendarme crown. Door has the original glass panes and nice decorative iron escutcheon. Interior has a shelf with turned spindle gallery and a shallow shelf beneath it. Waxed patina. Nice proportions, pegged construction. Pine as a secondary wood. All original. Typical of Provence, this vitrine was used for displaying glassware and plates or small collectibles. Two iron brackets on the back for hanging on the wall. Restoration on pierced apron.
