Late 18th Century, an exceptional original Directoire settee from France, in good condition. The hand scraped wood frame of the French period canape has the original patina. Hand crafted in Beechwood with a gracious flower décor, rosettes. A continuous Greek Meander key design adorns the bottom front and the sides of the lower frame. Beautiful clean straight lines and newly reupholstered loose seat cushion, back and armrests in down feather cushions. The soft natural ecru colored Bouclé fabric is from Pierre Frey. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1796, Paris, France.
