1970s French Embroidery Cross Stitch Alphabet Sampler, Framed

A large vintage French embroidery sampler dating from the 20th century. The framed needlework has been hand-made in classic cross stitch. It features a traditional alphabet and number design with a charming rose flower border. The embroidery sampler has the name of its maker, a young French girl Anny Christian. It also features the monograms of the Virgin Mary and the Christian Christogram with the dates of the first Holy communion and Confirmation of the girl (1973 & 1977). The sampler has been filled with soft cotton wadding to create a cushioned effect and is mounted in a wooden frame with a hanging cord.
