Their appearance resembles that of Jizo Bodhisattva, and many have their hands clasped in chorus.
This god is said to be the god of travel, and has been worshiped by the Japanese since ancient times as a god who watches over the safety of travelers and prevents them from taking the wrong path.
It is also often enshrined at the entrance to villages, and is believed to ward off evil spirits. A photo of Dosojin was published in a specialized book, so I’ll include it here as well.
