African Baule Bronze Couple- a Pair

By its refinement and it’s intrinsic quality, the Baule sculpture occupies a major place in the arts of the Ivory Coast, as in the African arts in general.

Contemporary artists of the early 20th century were not mistaken and often took Baule art as a reference in the reversal of artistic forms initiated by Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani and many others.
