This is a heavy Chinese Export porcelain jar complete with lid, hand painted with a blue and white lakeside scene and dating to the late 18th century, Qing dynasty.
This is a well potted piece with a very decorative bulbous shape and a glassy glaze having a blue tinge.
The jar is all hand decorated in a free flowing manner in different shades of cobalt blue, with a fisherman by trees set in a waterside scene with houses, boats and mountains, all between double blue circles and with an upper border pattern around the top of the jar. The lid has another waterside scene in the same manner as the jar. Both pieces exhibit the free flowing nature of the hand painting carried out on this type of provincial piece of this period.
We date this piece to late 18th century.
