An unusual and collectable pair of early 20th century decoy pigeons, these are heavy grey painted wood, with one having a spring loaded shaft attached and the other with a painted brass beak. Both have metal eyes and a metal loop in the back. The spring is attached to a loop underneath the tail and to the iron shaft, which is set in a slot beneath the pigeon. When the lever is moved across, the pigeon dips, and then springs back. There is a further metal loop in the chest which is likely to be part of the manipulation mechanism. Both pigeons have been given later wooden block stands, with a slot to insert the iron shaft on one. These will make a great addition to a decoy collection, but are also wonderful decorative pieces.
