18th century French Louis XVI period whitewashed bookcase ~ vitrine in oak features a stately presence while retaining a rustic charm that is ideal for formal or casual decors alike! Boldly molded crown in the classical theme overlooks the arched multi-paned display on top, fitted with the original hand-rolled glass. An intriguing false bottom in the upper tier allows for extra-discreet storage. The cabinet below provides plenty of storage as well, with a cup shelf and full width shelf for added convenience. Brass key guards and bold molding defines the elements, all rendered from solid old-growth oak to last for centuries. The neoclassic influence in the design is notable, with doric capitals appearing above the fluted cornerposts, and triangular rosettes filling the area created by the arched upper door. Fluting across the width at the middle and accenting the apron below complete the look, with the professionally applied whitewashed finish providing a soft, timeless look that will work with a multitude of today’s more casual decors!
